At Bringing Families Together, there is nothing more joyful than the safe reunification of families—and this month, we have twice the reason to celebrate!

We are thrilled to announce that TWO families have officially reunified in April—and we’re only halfway through the month!

🌟 On April 1, the Family Court officially terminated jurisdiction for Family One, and Child One is now back home with her Birth Mother! This milestone represents months of dedication, love and hard work. Graduation day in family court is always an emotional and beautiful moment—and we couldn’t be more proud of this mom’s journey!

🌟 Just one week later, on April 8, Family Two celebrated their own moment of triumph. Mom and Dad needed a little more time to complete their path to reunification—and we believed in them every step of the way. Today, we’re overjoyed to share that all three of their children have been reunified with their birth parents, and the court has officially closed the case.

Reunification is our primary goal—when it can be safely done.

These two families are shining examples of what can happen when parents are supported, children are cared for, and everyone on the team works together toward the same goal: helping families heal, grow and come back together.

What Does Reunification Really Mean?

When a child enters foster care, the goal is always to return them to a safe, loving and stable home with their birth family whenever possible. Foster care is meant to be temporary—a place of support and healing while parents work toward addressing the issues that brought their family into the foster care system.

Through the support of the Family Support Team, including our passionate case managers (i.e. "Family Service Workers") birth families are provided with the tools, services and support they need to reunite with their children. When progress is made and the court agrees that it is safe and in the best interest of the child, reunification becomes possible.

Each successful reunification represents:

  • A child safely back in the loving arms of their family.

  • A parent(s) who worked hard to overcome challenges.

  • A team of caring professionals and foster families who stood beside them.

Want to Make a Difference?

Foster parents are an essential part of the reunification process. They provide loving, temporary homes for children while supporting birth families as they work toward reunification. It’s a role filled with compassion, patience and purpose - and most of all, love.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. Visit us our Become a Foster Parent page to learn how you can be part of a child’s reunification story. Please also visit our Waiting Children page.
