🌟 August Employee of the Month: Mary Chimpaye 🌟

Sometimes, making an impact starts with something as simple as showing up — with a willingness to help, a warm smile and a genuine heart for children and families.
That is exactly what Mary Chimpaye has been doing since joining Bringing Families Together in April 2026. Welcome, Mary! 💜 And this month, her peers recognized those qualities by selecting her as our August Employee of the Month! 💜
As we celebrate Mary with this special recognition, we're also excited to officially welcome her to the BFT family and introduce her to the families, supporters and community who make our work possible.
Employee of the Month is chosen by BFT team members, making this recognition especially meaningful. It reflects the people who work alongside Mary seeing the difference she is already making in her short time with the agency.
Mary serves as a Family Service Worker on our Case Management Team, supporting children and families through some of the challenging circumstances they may face. And according to her teammates, she didn't spend much time easing into her new role — she jumped right in.
With a smile on her face, Mary is ready to help wherever she can. She has even been known to spend time sitting with children in the office, offering them a friendly and caring presence when they need one.
But Mary's commitment to children and families didn't begin when she arrived at BFT.
Before joining our team, Mary built a diverse background in community and human services. Her experience includes serving as a Child Protection Incentive Worker with Alight Uganda (formerly the American Refugee Committee), an organization whose Uganda programs include child protection and community-based protection.
She also worked as a Community-Based Caseworker with CRS/CARITAS and as an Interpreter with UNHCR. UNHCR's work in Uganda includes services focused on protecting children and supporting families, including family tracing and reunification and alternative care for children who are separated from their families.
After coming to the United States, Mary worked as an Employment Caseworker with the International Institute of St. Louis, helping clients navigate employment and self-sufficiency while connecting them with needed resources and services.
All of those experiences have helped shape Mary's passion for helping people find support and move forward.
When asked what she enjoys most about working at BFT, Mary shared:
“The opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives. I enjoy supporting families, helping them feel connected to needed resources, and being part of a team that works to strengthen and encourage children and families through challenging times.”
And Mary has an especially personal connection to caring for children. Reflecting on her experiences in Africa, she shared:
“I love children and families very much. In Africa, I served as a foster parent and foster sister, caring for children for short periods of time while they were waiting for permanent or longer-term placements. This experience strengthened my passion for supporting children and families.”
That experience gives particular meaning to the work Mary is now doing at BFT. She understands the importance of providing children with care and stability during periods of transition — and she understands the importance of helping families feel supported along the way.
Since arriving at BFT, Mary has brought that same spirit to her work: jumping in, helping out and doing it with a smile.
We're excited to have Mary on our team and grateful for the compassion, experience and enthusiasm she brings to the children and families we serve.
