Community Supports

Home Visitation

Our Mission

The mission of BFT’s Home Visitation Program is to provide education and support to expecting parents and parents of young children.

Our voluntary program is based upon the philosophy that early nurturing relationships are the foundation for life-long healthy development.

Through constructive interactions with our Home Visitation Specialists, we help educate and support parents during this exciting and stressful time.

All services provided are focused upon assisting the parent to build confidence in their skills and maximizing the joy of parenting their children.

What we do

We work with families that are expecting and/or have children under the age of three. We provide education using the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum, complete developmental assessments, mental health and parenting assessments and assist in connecting to community resources. We also provide incentives for participating in our home visitation program.

Tailored to Your Needs

Our program combines skill-based intervention with maximum flexibility so that services are available to families according to their unique needs.

You can expect your Home Visitation Specialist to meet with you twice a month in your home or in a safe place of your choice.

Participants will receive parenting education, child development and parenting assessments, and assistance in connecting to community resources as needed.

You will also receive incentives such as diapers and wipes for participating in our program.

Parent Support / Parent Cafès

We provide virtual Parent Cafés each month, which are support groups for parents to help build positive supports and learn from each other while focusing on these five protective factors:

  1. Support – everyone needs help sometimes

  2. Resilience – being strong and flexible

  3. Relationships – parents need positive friends

  4. Knowledge – parenting is a continuous learningprocess

  5. Communication – parents need to help theirchildren communicate

Our upcoming Parent Cafés are on our events / calendar and also on our Parent Café Flyer.
