Some team members have a way of continually finding new ways to support families, strengthen programs, and help their coworkers succeed. At Bringing Families Together, that kind of dedication makes a lasting impact — and that is exactly why we are proud to recognize Karen Johnson as our July Employee of the Month! 💜

Employee of the Month is chosen by peers, making this recognition especially meaningful. It reflects the appreciation and respect Karen has earned from the people who work alongside her every day.

Karen joined Bringing Families Together in September 2007 and has spent more than 18 years bringing knowledge, compassion, and creativity to our agency. As our Community Services Coordinator and Internship Coordinator on the Parenting+Plus Team, Karen plays an important role in developing resources, supporting staff, and helping families build skills that strengthen relationships.

Karen has been instrumental in growing the Parenting+Plus Program and continues to look for new ways to connect with families and share valuable parenting resources. Recently, she created new parenting videos and podcasts, providing families with additional tools and encouragement beyond traditional programming.

In addition to developing resources for families, Karen is always ready to support her coworkers. Whether she is training staff and clients, sharing her expertise, or stepping in during unexpected challenges — including helping during a transportation emergency — Karen consistently demonstrates the teamwork and flexibility that make BFT stronger.

Karen also brings a wealth of knowledge and training experience to her role. She holds a M.A., M.Ed., and B.A. and is a Red Cross Certified Trainer for First Aid, CPR, and AED (Adult, Child & Infant), helping ensure staff and community members have the skills they need to respond when it matters most.

When asked what she values most about working at BFT, Karen shared:

“BFT has been my second home for many years. I treasure the relationships and the support I share with the executive team and my colleagues. Our work provides the opportunity to see families grow, change for the better, and best of all, remain together safely.”

That commitment to families is at the heart of everything Karen does. Through Parenting+Plus, staff training, resource development and countless moments of support behind the scenes, Karen continues to make a difference for children, families and her fellow team members.
