Celebrating National Kinship Care Month

Updated: Sep 15

September is National Kinship Care Month, a time to honor the grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and family friends who open their homes and hearts to children in need of a safe, loving place to grow. At Bringing Families Together, we recognize the unique role kinship caregivers play in keeping children connected to their families, cultures, and communities.

Kinship care can provide children with a sense of stability and belonging during times of uncertainty. Maintaining familiar bonds can make all the difference—helping children feel supported, valued and loved as they navigate life’s challenges.

We also know that kinship caregivers often step in unexpectedly, rearranging their lives overnight to provide care. Their resilience, strength and devotion are nothing short of inspiring. This month, we join with others across the nation to say thank you to these caregivers who embody the very heart of family.

At Bringing Families Together, we are committed to supporting kinship families through resources, guidance and community. Whether you are a grandparent raising your grandchild, an aunt or uncle stepping into a parenting role, or a close family friend helping a child thrive, please know—you are not alone.

If you or someone you know is providing kinship care and could use support, we are here to help. Together, we can make sure every child has the love and stability they deserve.

💜 This National Kinship Care Month, we celebrate the families who prove that love makes a family.
