April is Child Abuse Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness, strengthen families and remind our community that every child deserves to feel safe, supported and cared for.
At Bringing Families Together, this month was more than a campaign. It’s a reflection of the work happening every day.
Throughout April, we shared messages focused on prevention, support and action. We talked about the importance of protective factors—like strong relationships, access to resources and community connection—that help families navigate challenges and create safe, stable environments for children. We highlighted the role each of us can play, from supporting parents and caregivers to speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
Because prevention doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community.
One of our favorite moments this month was seeing members of our team wearing blue in recognition of Go Blue Day. While only a few staff were able to step away to capture that photo, many more were out in the community—supporting youth, meeting with families and doing the work that matters most. That’s what this work looks like. It’s not always visible, but it is always happening.
And it matters.
This month also reinforced something we know to be true: supporting families is one of the most powerful ways to protect children. When parents and caregivers have the tools, encouragement and connection they need, children are more likely to feel safe and thrive.
As we reflect on Child Abuse Prevention Month, we also look ahead. The need for safe, stable and supportive homes does not end when April does.
If you’ve ever thought about how you can make a difference, this is your moment. Becoming a foster parent is one way to provide a child with safety, stability and a sense of belonging during a critical time in their life. Learn more about becoming a foster parent.
Together, we can continue building a safer future for our kids—not just this month, but every day.
