At Bringing Families Together, we’re serious about supporting youth, foster families and birth families—but we also know the importance of not taking ourselves too seriously all the time.
Sometimes, what everyone needs—whether you’re a teen in care, a parent working through a hard moment or a BFT team member managing a full plate—is to stop, breathe and just dance.
Yes, really. Dance.
We recently had a little fun in the office and made a video featuring a few of our team members dancing it out. We added the song “Just Dance”—with some animated friends jumping in on the action. It wasn’t just for laughs (though we had plenty)—it was a reminder of something simple but powerful:
🎶 “Just dance, it will be o.k.” 🎶
Here’s why that message matters:
1. Self-Care Isn’t Selfish—It’s Essential
When we give ourselves a break—literally—we reset. We reconnect with the moment, and we refill the energy we need to keep showing up for others. Whether it’s dancing, walking, journaling or just stepping outside for five minutes—your pause matters.
2. Joy Builds Connection
Laughter, movement, and fun help us bond as a team—and that connection makes us stronger for the kids and families we support. It’s the same at home: sharing joyful moments helps build trust and closeness between caregivers and kids, even during tough times.
3. It’s OK to Not Be OK—But It’s Also OK to Dance Anyway
Life isn’t always easy. Parenting, healing, growing up in care—all of it can feel overwhelming. But even in the hard moments, we want everyone in our circle to know:
➡️ It’s ok to pause.
➡️ It’s ok to dance.
➡️ It’s ok to laugh and let go.
➡️ And yes, it really will be o.k.
We’re here to walk with you through the challenges and the joy. 💜
So go ahead. Watch the video. Smile. Maybe even get up and dance a little—we dare you not to.
Have an awesome day (and weekend!), and don’t forget to make time for joy.
