Two Families, Two Milestones: Celebrating Reunification in Foster Care

June is Reunification Month — a time to recognize that, whenever it is safe and possible, the ultimate goal of foster care is to support children in returning home or finding permanency with their families.

At Bringing Families Together, we are honored to celebrate two incredible permanency milestones achieved this month!

💜Congratulations to Nick Trimble, Family Service Worker, on a successful reunification — a father being reunited with his baby boy, Joey. This milestone represents the dedication, perseverance and commitment of a parent working toward reunification and creating a safe, loving future for his child. (Children’s names have been changed to protect privacy.)

💜We also celebrate Hannah Norwood, Family Service Worker, on supporting the successful guardianship of Nicky and Sonya with their paternal grandmother. This milestone represents the love, commitment and dedication of a family stepping forward to provide a safe, stable and nurturing home for children they love.

A child returning home is a moment filled with hope, joy and often many emotions. Behind every reunification is a tremendous amount of work, growth and commitment. Parents work hard to address concerns, build protective capacities and demonstrate that they can provide a safe and loving environment for their children. Families participate in services, attend appointments, strengthen support systems and partner with caseworkers and other professionals along the way.

For this father and his baby boy, reunification represents the result of dedication, perseverance and a parent’s commitment to doing the work necessary to bring his child home.

For this grandmother, guardianship represents a family stepping up with love and stability to ensure children remain connected to their family.

While we are grateful for the dedication of our Family Service Workers, the biggest congratulations belong to these children and families — the grandparents, parents and loved ones who worked toward reunification and permanency and the children at the center of it all.

Reunification is more than a court date or a transition home. It is a reminder that families can heal, grow and overcome challenges with the right support and resources. At Bringing Families Together, our mission is provide those resources to allow families to safely reunite.

During Foster Care Reunification Month, we celebrate every parent, grandparent, relative, caregiver and professional who works tirelessly toward safe, lasting connections for children.

Congratulations to these families on reaching important milestones. We are honored to walk alongside them.

Between Care and Reunification – You can help

When children enter foster care, our hope is always that they can safely return home to their families. Foster parents play a vital role in helping bridge that time — providing children with stability, love and support while parents work toward reunification.
