That’s exactly why we’re proud to honor Chad Baker as our January Employee of the Month! 💜

Chad has been part of the BFT family since October 2012, bringing depth, dedication and heart to his role as a Family Development Specialist on our Resource Team. He holds a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), with a focus on medical social work, and approaches every part of his work with curiosity, compassion and a steady sense of purpose.

What sets Chad apart is his willingness to lend a hand wherever it’s needed. His peers voted for him not just because of his everyday excellence, but because of how he shows up for the entire agency — helping across programs, offering thoughtful ideas, and being the kind of colleague you know you can count on.

One moment that stands out is a special gift project Chad led with our TLSS youth — a creative initiative that brought joy, community and connection to young people transitioning toward independence. Whether he’s working with prospective foster families, supporting our internal teams, or finding meaningful ways to connect with youth through projects like this one, Chad brings energy, integrity and intention to every role he steps into.

What he loves most about his job is helping kids find permanent families. In his own words, “When successful, keeping kids out of the ‘system,’ which can be difficult to get oneself out of.”

That sentiment speaks to the heart of our mission — helping children experience safety, belonging, and connection before they can ever get lost in a system. Chad’s work embodies that mission every day, whether he’s supporting a family through a transition, helping a foster family get ready, or simply offering encouragement to a colleague.
